Diamonds and Dust

I can feel the weight
of the Earth's
iron core
as it's gravity
pulls on me,

giving me
that sinking feeling
in my guts...

my heart
and lungs
seem to sag
and droop
as each beat
and breath
becomes more labored
as I fight
the sick
bubbling about.

I feel
the singularity
that has formed
beneath my feet,
sucking me down.

I have felt this
before...

the precursor
to doom...

the instincts
screaming
in my chest
as my mind
simply breaks
and falls
away.

The sinking
and the crushing
can turn a man's soul
to dust...

all it takes
is pressure
and time.
